Chicago's Sitch, Weber to miss rest of season

08/13/2010 - Bridgeview, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Red Stars confirmed on Thursday that midfielder Julianne Sitch and defender Elise Weber will miss the rest of the season.

Sitch tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during the second half of a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Independence on Wednesday.

"Julianne Sitch is a role player who's got the heart of a lion," Red Stars coach Omid Namazi said. "She works her butt off, and to replace her is tough."

Sitch played in 13 regular-season matches for the Red Stars this season, logging three starts and 361 minutes. The Red Stars signed Sitch as a free agent in the offseason, following her WPS Championship campaign with Sky Blue FC.

Weber is out for the rest of the season with a labral tear of her left hip - an injury that occurred during training. The Red Stars signed Weber to a developmental contract on June 4 following the dissolution of Saint Louis Athletica. She played in three matches and made two starts for the Red Stars.
